Reading Reflection #2

I selected Inbound Marketing. This book was published at the beginnings of social media before we knew what would become of it and what an impact it would have on business, group thought, and personal opinions of everything from businesses to Netflix shows.

As someone who doesn't engage in social media very much, this was a helpful read to know what strategies can be useful to be a successful presence on social media platforms. If I chose to in the future or even how becoming a social media influence works.

I believe that following the steps given in the book about watching your competitors is very useful and something I would not have thought about. You cannot copy your competitors but watching how they market things and finding a way to innovate your marketing strategy is something I believe would be a helpful exercise.

Overall, I went into reading this book pretty blindly. As i said before i do not have a strong social media presence and the fact that this book was published in 2009 means that they knew what direction this was going in while college students felt it was necessary to post drunk pictures on Facebook, not knowing employers would have access to this later. I enjoyed this book, it was very helpful.

  1. Hi Orlantha! I can completely relate to you when it comes to social media use. Although, I haven't read this book I am excited to give it a read in the future. As someone who also doesn't engage on social media much, I am excited to discover different marketing techniques that could be employed on various platforms. Since these platforms have millions of users, marketing and advertising on social media can really play a positive role in attracting customers and increasing revenue for businesses.
