Growing Your Social Capital

*Due to the climate of COVID-19, I did not get any responses from the local or state governments in Missouri (obviously warranted) so I reached out to the contacts I have used in the past to see if any of their colleagues were able to pitch in. 1) Civil Engineer (PE) domain expert- Having an added certification of Professional Engineer qualifies as a subject matter expert in areas like concrete which is what levies are mostly made of. I reached out to a friend from college who was working at a Civil Engineering firm in South Florida and asked if he could ask his boss to help. He was able to email me back with some thoughts about my idea. You My name is Orlantha. I am a junior in the Business Administration at UF. I retained my first degree in Industrial Engineering which I worked in for a few years before pivoting to business. I am back in school to gain the business acumen needed to change fields. I consider myself to be a hardworking people person. The connections I have made throughout the years personally and professionally have helped me succeed. I aspire to enter a role in the feasibility stage of New Product Development whether it is within a company or at a consulting firm. This business concept has helped me understand the customers I will interact with in the future. Elevator Pitch No. 2

Elevator Pitch Reflection- With my last pitch, my peer reviews liked the amount of information I had about the subject as well as the explanation of how the system would work. I thought that ending the pitch with a question would be enough but after review, realized that I needed to call the audience to action while doing so. I tweaked the ending and a few word choices here and there. I was not able to clear a better non-sitting position due to new surroundings but will see if I can maneuver this for the next round of pitches.
