Create a Customer Avatar





This is Jim. He is a 45 year old project manager for the Army Corp of Engineers in Northwestern region (along the Missouri River). Originally from the area, he returned home after college and began working in public works. After working as a Structural Engineer for the City, he began a job as project manager for the Army Corp of Engineers. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and the outdoors and goes camping whenever he can! He drives a black Jeep Wrangler which he loves attaching his 5th wheel trailer when he can to get out into nature.  He travels for work often and does not have much time for Television. He believes that we should do all we can to preserve current farm lands and their communities.

What do I have in common- I believe we have a duty to help others by trying to preserve their homes, farms, and communities. We may have similar passions for the outdoors but are in different parts of our lives (he is steadily in his career whereas I just started mine).

    Orlanthal,

    Great job building out your avatar. I like you emphasized the background of your avatar. A person's background is super important to understanding their perspective and how their experiences motivate them. This is one of the primary hurdles of identifying your target customer. One thing I would add, maybe try to build out a little but more information on your avatars needs. This helps someone like me relate your avatar to your product!

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Regulatory Changes: Trump Administration ends OSHA program protecting workers from developing Silicosis (Lung disease) Source: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/10/02/766028237/workers-are-falling-ill-even-dying-after-making-kitchen-countertops I read about this repeal through an NPR list of EPA rollbacks of the Trump Administration I believe there is an opportunity to offer the same regulations of the program which start with manufacturing of the engineered stone used for kitchen counter tops. Who: I believe the customer will be there companies who build and fit these countertops (contractor companies) and also Union workers. This opportunity might be difficult to exploit because it requires companies to purchase materials from companies who manufacture a safer manufactured stone. Reading Reflection No. 1

For this assignment I read Miracles Happen by Mary Kay Ash 1)       As someone who has not had many interactions with Mary Kay line other than my mom bringing home Mary Kay Products when I was younger, I honestly was surprised to hear that the type of product selling had never existed before. I admired the most that this was a company based on the Golden Rule- which meant women were created equal and it was a way for them to make money outside the home. Although many startup companies at the time relied on family support, she took a large risk bringing her family into the business without knowing if it would be a success.
