Solving the Problem


Product Idea: Create a levy system for water removal
Since climate change is an issue that affects the entire world and will be difficult to change as 1 person or company, we can focus on the most damaging effects on farmland, flooding. Creating a better irrigation or water removal system will allow for more crops to be saved.
A few Versions of this idea:
1.      The idea of sandbagging and drainage system are already in place..
2.      Raising communities at least 1 foot higher has already been issued to most communities in Illinois.
3.      Develop damns in certain rivers to allow for better drainage.
I want to provide a service that can be used in the Midwest that can benefit farmers and their communities which downstream help all of those who purchase these crops.
I think with government help, the levies would be a great idea to mediate this concern. This is however a short to semi long term solution for an issue that will continue to occur.

    I think you have a good opportunity here. There really is no limit to the market because climate change affects the entire globe. I think you did a good job of identifying solutions that already exist and solutions that you could implement. Do you think there are ways to improve the existing plans? Also, do you think you could go more in-depth about your ideas next time?

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Regulatory Changes: Trump Administration ends OSHA program protecting workers from developing Silicosis (Lung disease) Source: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/10/02/766028237/workers-are-falling-ill-even-dying-after-making-kitchen-countertops I read about this repeal through an NPR list of EPA rollbacks of the Trump Administration I believe there is an opportunity to offer the same regulations of the program which start with manufacturing of the engineered stone used for kitchen counter tops. For this assignment I read Miracles Happen by Mary Kay Ash 1)       As someone who has not had many interactions with Mary Kay line other than my mom bringing home Mary Kay Products when I was younger, I honestly was surprised to hear that the type of product selling had never existed before. I admired the most that this was a company based on the Golden Rule- which meant women were created equal and it was a way for them to make money outside the home.
